Just a humble grad student's journey through life's trenches. This is my story of how to deal with a family torn apart by alcohol, and the pressures of young adulthood. I try to do these two things all while keeping my heart and mind fixed on the cross.

Last Day in Europe
So my month-long, European study abroad comes to a close today. We leave for home tomorrow morning at 6 AM. It is going to be a loooong trip back home.We have to change planes in London and then continue on to Charlotte. I have been told that the Charlotte customs is a beast to get through, and it takes forever. Yay. As long as the customs officers don't question me unnecessarily, and they don't act like dicks...everything will be ok. So yeah, after that then we have a 2 hour bus ride back to Clemson and then I have to turn around and drive 3.5 hours home to Charleston (with all of the stupid construction work on I26). Yay. But! It will all be worth it. I am so ready to be home. I have the most wonderful guy waiting for me to get home. He is about two feet tall, covered in white hair, and likes to poop in the backyard. =) I wish I had funny stories to share with all of you about Berlin, but not much has happened here. We have done a lot of sightseeing, and I will do a bit more today. Oh! I can tell you about how I almost beat the crap out of some old woman. This is remotely interesting, I suppose. So ok, if you know me- you know that 1) I have martial arts training, and 2) I HATE being touched by people I'm not close to. I have serious personal space issues. If I don't know you, you should really avoid contact with me that could be percieved in anyway as threatening, rude...etc. Yeah, so yesterday we are standing at this corner and our tour guide, David, is telling us the history about some building and all of a sudden some person behind me like pushes me. Since I knew for a fact that there was no one in my group behind me, I was pissed before I even turned around. I wasn't blocking the walkway or anything like that. So I turned around ready to just punch the shit out of someone and turns out it was this old, decrepid, German woman who is yelling at me in German. Thankfully I calmed down quickly and avoided a potential bad scene so I just laughed at her, which pissed her off even more. I still have no idea what she was saying or why she pushed me, but good thing I didn't react very quickly because I would probably be sitting in a German jail for beating some Holocaust survivor or something. Our tour guide joked "Oh, she must have known Hitler personally...". Eh whatever. The only other amusing thing that happened while here is the MASSIVE gay and lesbian parade/celebration yesterday. We got off at Stadmitte station and all of the roads were blocked off and there was a massive parade/party thing going on with drag queens and the rainbow flags and whatnot. They were playing all these 90's tunes like Mambo #5. It was highly amusing. Don't worry, I got film. Well kids, I think that is all for me right now. I'm about to go meet Carmen to go trek around Berlin one last time. Its been great, Europe!
